Short version: Finance 509 is a notebook for your own figures. It is not a bank, it does not move money, and it is not financial advice. Keep your own records of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Finance 509 is a personal bookkeeping app published by Shamu. You enter your own accounts, transactions and budgets, and the app adds them up and charts them. It has no connection to any bank, card issuer, broker or payment provider, it cannot read your statements, and it cannot send, receive or hold money.
Totals, budget warnings and any suggestion the app shows are arithmetic on the numbers you typed. They are not financial, tax, investment or legal advice, and they take no account of your circumstances. Decisions you make with the app are yours. For advice, speak to someone qualified and regulated to give it.
You need an account to use the app. You agree to give a real email address you control, to keep your password to yourself, and to tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. One person, one account.
The records you enter belong to you. We claim no ownership of them, we do not sell them, and we do not use them to build a profile of you or train anything. We store and sync them so the app can show them back to you — see the privacy policy for exactly where they go. You can delete all of it at any time: Delete your account.
The app's figures are only as good as what was entered, and software has bugs. We make no promise that your records will never be lost or corrupted by a bug, a failed sync, a lost phone or a provider outage. Finance 509 is not a system of record: if a number matters — for a tax return, a loan application, a dispute — keep it somewhere else too.
Please do not try to break into other people's accounts, attack the service, pull it apart to redistribute it as your own app, or use it to do something illegal. We may suspend an account that does.
Finance 509 is provided without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, or for financial decisions you took using the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death, personal injury or fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
We may update the app and these terms; the date at the top says when. Significant changes will be announced in the app. You can stop at any time by deleting your account and removing the app. We may end your access if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the app — in which case we will give notice in the app so you can export your records first.
